It's just a thing that happens...
People misquote almost every single iconic line in the history of cinema.
It only takes one comedian misquoting it on a parody on a TV show for everyone to suddenly think that the misquote is the real line.
E.g. Dirty Harry never says "Do you feel lucky, punk?", it's "...you've gotta ask yourself one question... 'Do I feel lucky?'.... well do ya, punk?"
and so on.
