Skin colour shouldn't be significant
But in Western cultures it definitely is.
A culture grew around a group who were (and sometimes still are) treated like shit precisely because of that attribute, then we turn round and say "oh it's just like having different colour hair". Sure it should be, but it isn't, and you can't pretend that shit didn't happen.
If homosexuality had never been seen as 'wrong' then there wouldn't be a gay culture. But it was and there is.
Nothing wrong celebrating that, just as we celebrate being English/Welsh/Scottish, our national days, our sports teams. I don't know where celebration ends and appropriation begins.
