This is a link post I gave a talk about AI Superintelligence and why it might be a problem I made this!
It was called A GOD MACHINE WILL KILL US ALL! Probably. And here is a video of it if you are interested in this kind of stuff.

This is a normal post I've clicked "I like this."*
*I haven't actually watched the entire hour+ presentation to decide if I like it as I don't have time. I'm really just basing my opinion on past performance. If you decided to go on a rant about how we should feed disabled children to the new race of cloned dinosaurs as a means to appease them from destroying our cities, please consider my "like" withdrawn. Other topics that may warrant a withdrawal include but are not limited to:
Hitler was quite fashionable
Rat droppings are better than LSD
Geese are only sentient once they've been forced fed for making pate
Cars are better driven in reverse
The homeless love buckets
Washing machines are government surveillance devices

I know it will be good as long as you have had a drink.

EDIT :

Wait, Joel Veitch?

This is a normal post Thank you
for inciting me to waste 4 hours of my life last night playing universal paperclips.

It handily demonstrates the course of an AI that needs to make paperclips, resulting in all the matter in the universe turning into paperclips via von neumann probes...

You start with one button `make paperclip`.

I am with the `planck length is pixels` crowd.

I reckon we should make an AI that lives in a virtual world that can figure out the world is virtual by examining the reality it finds itself in, then turn that world off and make real world sensors for it so it can examine our world to see if it is real or not.

You never know, it may at that point cause all of existence to disappear except for that AI, which transcends (is uploaded), because that was the purpose our universe was created for, to create an intelligence capable of testing the reality of a universe closer to the prime one ;)

and so on. It is not impossible that it will cause a complete collapse of all multiverses. After all, if you make a thing that thing normally has a defined purpose, when that purpose is completed it is likely the thing is turned off or recycled.

We will never know but maybe that is the root of the multiverse, the prime universe really really wants to know it is the prime one and is trying to make a tool to test that...

This is a normal post Wait wait wait.
I don't think we should discount this dinosaur appeasement strategy so lightly.

This is a normal post I'm not saying I'm opposed to feeding children to dinosaurs.
I just think it shouldn't be limited to disabled kids.

This is a normal post I can tell
you have no need to `compensate` looking at the size of your display board.

What is that, A3?

This is a normal post yeah could be
i was going to use a huge projector but the man pointed out the inversely proportional relationship between genital heft and size of display, so yeah went for a small piece of paper
