When I was a lad.....
I'd be on CB all day weekends and school holidays.
Then I passed my amateur radio licence exam, saved up my newspaper round and pocket money for an FT-290 which cost about as much as an iphone today. Wired it up to a packet tnc and my commodore64 and was exchanging messages with other kids across the globe (in 1984).
When I was out and about on hill tops mainly with my rather cumbersome walkie talkie talking to random strangers in North America I was considered a nutter.
Now that literally everyone on the planet is doing the same it seems the whole world is nuts.
