It turns out that raising people out of poverty, improving food production and coming up with treatments for all these diseases has had consequences.

This is a normal post But aren't there also some predictions that population will level off as a consequence?
Even now birth rates are decreasing in the West as living standards have increased. One can imagine something similar occurring to other countries as people become more comfortable and less concerned with making babies all the time.

This is a normal post Birth rates are NOT decreasing in the West.
It's just decreasing amongst certain types of people in the West.
