Once Italy’s path was clear, we should have been on immediate lockdown. Schools were open for at least a week after it was clear they would have to close, merely exacerbating the pressure on the NHS. I withdrew my child from the nursery on the Monday, and both I and my partner started working from home at the behest of our respective employers, not as a result of government advice.
