You should try a cls filter if you've got a DSLR
It clips right in front of the sensor, works well in heavy light pollution. The downside is you'll need a longer exposure time, higher ISO or make use of stacking to get some decent pics.

Didn't even know those were a thing. I thought you had to modify the camera and I'll be damned if I was going to do that.
