Multiculturalism reached a sweet spot for a few years in the 90s, early 00s. Nobody noticed or cared that two of the three leads in Red Dwarf were black, despite the absence of quotas which we have now. There was blacking-up in Little Britain/Boosh/League but the difference was generally understood. South-Asian comics applauded Apu. Goodness Gracious Me good-naturedly mocked white Brits. We were all happy taking the piss out of each other. All was as it should be. And then...

Blair's black genie is out of the bottle. We are all enemies now (yours has always, mystifyingly, been the Jews). And multiculturalism is utterly fucked.

Some truth and reconciliation would be welcome, but I fear we're going to get more fear and loathing.

No-one's prepared to mount a defence of banning The League of fucking Gentlemen. It's almost as though I were right all along.

JK Rowling's current woes are particularly amusing.

I have found that people who regularly decry "The Left" are usually talking about liberals, and are usually daft cunts who cannot be reasoned with.

Reds, teachers, bleeding hearts, pinkos, strangely tactile scout leaders, students, junkies, non-African Anglican bishops, the feckless and trustafarians. Which one are you? I'm guessing not a bishop.

Stop being so uptight and cut them some slack.

People might take a while to calm down and take a more reasoned approach.
A bit like virtually any human conflict whatsoever.
Anyway, if it wasn't for attention seeking twats, legitimate sneering would be trickier.

Some statues being taken down and TV shows off, (probably temporarily), are not exactly equivalent to the prejudice experienced.
Some will always take the opportunity to kick off stupidly, make shit decisions or retreat into nostalgia.
It can be easy for others to criticise who haven't had prejudice regularly inflicted on them, it is both inherited and current. Imagine how you might feel if your community had a Tulsa massacre, etc, etc.
Too 'tired' for arguing

Us Australians demand our suffering be acknowledged by replacing the Colston statue with one of Rolf Harris

'They' (presumably you disagree with this group) have taken down some old comedy shows due to perceived bad taste such as unironic black-face.
One can argue that it is all a bit of an over-reaction but it is nothing new. Media companies have been quietly retiring troubling material for years and mostly nobody has noticed. Perhaps our grandparents miss the Black & White Minstrels shows of the Seventies - that doesn't make that content any less gruesome (by today's standards).
The sad thing about this current take-down is that the right get to use it to distract from the real issue - real lived racism which pervades society. Statues and TV shows are small beer, the movement is about trying to get some equality.
Attitudes Night is making the point that the cultural norms of the past are disturbing or grotesque - it is out and out satire. Come Fly With Me is just black face, lazy, stereotype and offensive to the people it sends up. TV Executives/Streaming Services can tell the difference.
I'm guessing you are not campaigning for the return of Bernard Manning on TV or for Jim Davison's Chalky White routine.

You have grossly misunderstood me but I can see why. I was not trying to make the point you reasoned out.
