It exists because people will pay good money for a trip into space, just for lulz - and it's likely to be relatively affordable.
OK, maybe 50 grand or more at first - but some will pay that, just to become one of the very few that have been to space. And the cost will fall rapidly, until it's not much different from doing a parachute jump.
I'm not trying to argue with you. Just, this is a very different thing - you're comparing apples and oranges, or comparing a Ford Fiesta to a Formula-1 car.
Yeah, all the delays are annoying - but that's pretty standard in space flight. At least they are making progess, that's the main thing. Barring a disaster, it'll take people within a year, I think.

And I think that Bezos and Branson are stuck behind the curve. Going straight up to peek your head above the Kármán line before coming back to where you started is, as you say, like a parachute jump. It isn't very useful.
Starship and Skylon could actually take you places you want to go via spaaaaaaaace.

And exceeding the Karman Line for under a minute of that really doesn’t feel like going to space to me.

its bare bones, just technically going to space, but we want 2001: A Space Odyssey stuff, as promised as a kid
