Horrid plasticky sound of grotty transducers.
This guy plays around NZ quite a lot and after a gig I collared him to find out what system he used to get such a natural sound. L R Baggs Anthem.
Went and got one and it's just magic.

I think it's just because the Ovation was the first of its kind, the only (?) plug-in acoustic available in the late 70s/80s
and it made live performance with an acoustic much less of a headache for the crew, so everyone went for it.
It *almost* spoils the live versions of The Trees.
