a lot of people simply wont be able to admit that they voted for it in a few years time I reckon
Imagine having the 'what did you vote in the referendum?" conversation with a kid who's just become aware of what happened and what it means for their life chances. It's going to become a secret shame

Probably the first time I've ever agreed with you!
Nobody did the blame analysis prior to casting their vote. The way I see it, there were 2 choices with 6 possible outcomes, but only 1 choice had any risk of blame.
One votes against Brexit, Brexit loses and that's the end of it.
One votes against Brexit, Brexit wins and it turns out terrible... not your fault.
One votes against Brexit, Brexit wins and it turns out to be great... no harm, no foul.
One votes for Brexit, Brexit loses and that's the end of it.
One votes for Brexit, Brexit wins and it turns out great... no problem, no blame.
And finally,
One votes for Brexit, Brexit wins and it turns out terrible... one now has some explaining to do.
