I used to live in a house with a very old apple tree in the garden.
One day, my parents came to visit. I have no idea how the conversation got there, but one of them mentioned that they'd never seen a woodpecker in the wild.
At that point, neither had I.
And then I happened to glance out of the window, and saw movement in the tree. There were seven great spotted woodpeckers in it.
A week later, I saw a green woodpecker walking across the road, as leisurely as you like.
This must have been about 15 years ago. I have not seen a woodpecker since.

and as far as I know only this one who comes to eat my peanuts.
