I think that trying things outside of one's comfort zone

Well, for example,
I saw him react very favourably to a meal he had from a middle-eastern vegetarian place, involving a number of foods he'd never tried before. He's clearly a man who likes his burgers and kebabs, but he gave it a go and liked it.
