This is a normal post Okay I'm a little bit inspired...
I have one or two of those gadget shop pocket sized 4 bladed drones. They have a battery life of about 2 minutes (which would be hackable with a bigger aircraft), and they are already remote controlled. The joystick controller and drone brain think they're a drone, but I bet I can hack that to just have 4 props with variable power.

Shove them in the engine nacelles of a 4 prop airfix model, in a symmetrical fashion with two going clockwise and two going anti, that should give me yaw and, I think roll..? Maybe if I have two pointing slightly upwards and two pointing slightly downwards that could give me pitch.

Making landing gears light enough yet strong enough to cope with my piloting skills is possibly what kills my cheap idea. I guess I could just use balsa wood skids on springs or collapsible paper.

Fuckit, the whole plane could be made of paper.

This is a normal post I thought about going that route for the Mozzy,
but the model currently weighs 250 grams, add battery pack, servos, reciever and the rest of the furniture to the model and you end up with something like 4-500grams.
The bigger the brick, the more power is required to make it move. Most toy drones are around 20 grams.
Trust me, I was as impressed that it dragged itself across the shed floor at 10% power, but there is a casm of difference between that and powered flight. 99% of me says it will brick, but that niggling 1% of "what if" is spurring me on! Oh and a good dose of British fuckit n do it! So basically, YES, go for it :)
