I don't think anyone claimed Douglas Bader had single-handedly fought off the entire Luftwaffe.

This is a normal post No, but the overwhelming number of Russian planes provides more targets to be shot down.
That's the Battle of Britain principle I was alluding to.

I can believe that there's one Ukranian kid who spent their entire life playing dogfight sims and training to be a fighter pilot.

More targets, but also more opportunities to be shot down. A target-rich environment might seem a good thing until they start targeting you back.
