Ashcroft used non-dom holding companies to funnel millions into multiple races in marginal seats, the Electoral commission investigated and Ashcroft and the tory branches refused to answer, and the EC didn't have the power to compel them. After Cameron won in 2010 off the back of an avalanche of ashcroft money, they were incurious in following the matter any further, gave Ashcroft a peerage, and have been in power ever since. The greek sheila above, in contrast, has already served prison time and it's unlikely her bullshit alibi will save her in the investigation. Meanwhile Ashcroft owns companies that own companies like Medacs that tories awarded 350 million pound contracts for making a meal of test and trace during covid.
