it's easy to overlook australia regularly comes top in comparative global studies of the immigrant experience. That is, when they do qualitative follow up studies after 10 years, they find immigrants to australia felt the most welcome and integrated of all countries. The children of immigrants are the highest performing academically of equivalent migrant children in any oecd countries. Same for immigrant financial equality, and most other metrics of positive integration. And this is a hugely multicultural society already, 30% born overseas. If you're an afghani refugee or a cashed up chinese, you're more likely to have a better experience moving to australia than any other country on the planet. not bad for a bunch of racists
