The Co-op on the Channel Islands sells a Ginsters sausage roll for £1.59
Greggs are about £1.50 or something. Might be a little presumptuous to assume that he's going to get a *cooked* sausage roll every shift, but let's push the boat out and add an extra 20p for heating it in the oven and £100 for the mural (assuming it wasn't hand-painted by one of the other dogsbodies for free)
So, for 40 years of unflinching service in arguably the worst part of the retail sector imaginable, he's received a gift to the value of approximately £168, or 8 pence per week. Fuck me.

No employer "owes" any kind of gift.
So trying to work out a monetary value of one serves no purpose. Especially when the recipient was plenty happy about it.
You joyless bastard.
