And old neighbour of mine
Had a cat that would spend hours watching from the house birds in the garden. He swore that the cat when let out would mimic pecking the ground pretending to be a bird. I'm not sure if any chattering was involved
I guess anicdotes are not my forte.

Or maybe sniffing the ground where the birds have been.
The giveaway is when the cat flaps its wings.
