Possibly the big scary alien would be ejected into space early on by comic accident to remove the really scary element.
The Humans/Muppets then being left in fear of noises, signals on detectors caused by other humans/muppets.
Who can forget the jump scare when they think they're being surrounded by multiple aliens and the door suddenly opens accompanied by a loud squawk as Gonzo's chickens turn up.
