This is a normal post We rehome hens
Some of them are quite healthy looking, but some are in a right state. In hampshire one time, we got some that looked like they had been plucked ready for cooking. Took them a while to grow their feathers back. Sometimes, they have pre-existing health issues and don't last long. Sometimes you get a trooper who keeps going for ages. Always nice to give them a bit of open air, kale from the garden, and the odd worm we dig up.

These were from a free range farm, so in a better condition than some of the caged hens they get. One of the volunteers said the caged ones tend to be pretty freaked out as they've never really seen daylight before which is pretty depressing. The volunteers tend to take any that are too poorly away, to nurse back to health, but sure some don't survive. Do you still keep chickens?
