You could just make an inverted eggcup that presents an apparently spherical egg.
A pretty dastardly trick to play on someone though.

The narrowing of the egg varies quite a bit though.
If you really want to mess with people's heads:-
i Inject a flavour into an egg and seal before boiling (allow to diffuse).
ii Watch the cognitive dissonance as they tuck into a cherry flavour egg.
iii Run away giggling.
