Been around for a long time - I guess they're more versatile than a four wheel tractor.

The one I was on used the front engine to drive the back axle, via a giant rubber drive belt about a foot wide, rather than pulled from the front. Had several poles connecting the two. Had plenty of time to contemplate what an odd contraption it was
