by pointing out its foolishness and that an upright, "British" example to and pillar of society (his headmaster) thinks/thought that they're a bunch of wankers?
It's vital that witty and intelligent people draw attention to their arguments so the less intelligent see a different point of view. If you never criticise what they're saying (by not publicising the opposite point of view), they get to spread their contemptible message without opposition.
