he was probably dead when the track marshals got to him. Old saying in racing, "nobody ever dies at the track." You take them to hospital and pronounce them dead there.

Racing fandom is hard on the heart. Too many little heart attacks and big heartbreaks. I used to be really into it, but not so much now.
