I'd be very surprised if anything
other than a blockbuster action movie or a kids film gets released in 3D.
Anything aimed at adults and with a decent plot is going to be ruined by having to have pointy-stick moments shoehorned in.
That said, there are 2 moments in Antichrist that would have been fantastic in it.

I'm sure similar comments were made in the 1920s about the use of colour

That said, ultimately colour did add very little.
Good black and white films are still good, shit colour films are still shit.
In terms of technological advancement, surely computer games are far more immersing than 3D cinema and thus that area of screen entertainment is far more advanced than cinema will ever be.
Cinema is great for story telling and reflection, so I wish it would stick to that.
