Using the awsome Highslide ( highslide.com/ ) and PHPThumb ( phpthumb.sourceforge.net/ ) I have made a quick script this morning to recurse all files in my /b3ta folder and present them in a nice gallery format.
I'm no web person or code monkey, so it's a touch dirty and needs tidying, but does the job... I can link the script itself (with required highslide / phpthumb files) if anybody wants it. Here
Anyway, let me know what you think, and how it performs.

Using the HighSlide editor to get your configs for HTML layout, my only tripping point was PHP 5.3 - you need this fix to make phpthumb work: sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=2937928&group_id=106407&atid=643974
(if you use php 5.3)

highslide and go for jquery.
Google jquery slideshow or gallery. Loads of sexy stuff you can just dump straight in
