I get about two or three phone calls a year from the ignorant asking if 'during the war, were the lions lived off vegetables,' to which I get more sarcastic with every reply. A big cat behaving like that is exhibiting juvenile behaviour; once the full impact of surviving as an adult kicks in they would/will do lunch by instinct.
During the war the big cats were fed dead dogs from Battersea. They would at first go blind without meat, and then die. No vegetarian option.
I believe there is some bollocks in the Bible about lambs and lions sharing some field at the end of days

Their digestive systems are not adapted to cope with vegetables.
