first comment from the grauniad FTW:
"The day that free speech officially became a crime against the state and that legitimate forums for protest were closed. It is an exercise of power on the day that the idle rich chose to rub our faces in their centuries old inherited privilege. Drive any form of opposition underground and criminalise it. It feels a bit colder and darker today."
b3ta is getting a bit right wing these days. The student protest threads were way depressing, mostly people blamed students for protesting! Even in the bristol tesco thread people seemed against the protestors and pro tesco (which avoids tax big fucking time - all in it together huh?)
and then last night a thread on here about the royal wedding - well it read like a bunch of fucking daily mail comments.
The rich have won. They own the conversation, and have couched it in their terms - all dissent is bad, all protest is bad; look at these yobbos smashing things up - get a life, etc etc. and now people on b3ta are sticking up for the rich and powerful, standing against the protestors. Yet when they saw it in egypt, they cheered on the protestors!

Whenever political links are posted on here, the ones with the strongest opinions are always the ones who'll stop and speak their mind. The rest just shrug and scroll past to the videos of kittens.

It's more like b3DL these days.
I don't come here much anymore for that reason, once that type turns up artistic expression takes a holiday.
