Good theory!
once dropped some red hot mince on the floor and one of my cats wolfed it and regretted it, for two days she licked everything very carefully before eating it and now you practically have to force her to take a treat off your plate!

Haha! I too have a story,
about my friend's dog. They were pulling up their old carpet, and their dog walked into the bare, wooden-floored room, stepping immediately onto the spikes in the doorway that hold the carpet down. He now distrusts any room that doesn't have carpet on the assumption it'll spike his feet. Nutcase!

On the plus side
it's provided us with many entertaining times when you give her a little bit of still-warm bacon out of your sarnie and then get to watch her sniff it, pat it, lick it, push it about, wave it about between her claws, then, just as she decides it's safe to go for it, watch the other cat eat it.
