I'd love to have a portal gun... it doesn't have to be working, just a prop of sorts :)

the bugger even talked, and she did it all herself from scratch, unfuckingbelievable.
I think we all secretly want a portal gun...

And I think I'd probably end up accidentally killing the world or something if I had a portal gun.

They are a bitch, half 'cos of the metal shininess, half 'cos of the electronics, totally beyond me so utter respect of you're even attempting it!

The chrome effect is something I've been worrying about. I was thinking of getting it vacuum formed if spray paint won't work.
And thanks :) I'll post results once it's done.

I was planning on buying a bike helmet and building around that. I acquired a 'net' of Thomas' helmet which I can take pieces from and transfer them to linoleum or mat board :)

It's amazing, the number of links I see here and bookmark. If I remember correctly, that guy spent around the $8000 mark. The fact that he had bespoke PCBs made for the lighting should give a fair indication of how super serious he was about the whole project. Personally I prefer my models cheap and cheerful, not white and elephantine.

I don't plan to spend much at all with this project... even if I could I wouldn't. I mean, I calculate the whole thing would probably be around the £40-50 mark, depending on what helmet I get, what material, spray paint (saw a decent can for a fiver yesterday), etc.
