I'm sure you're a perfectly safe cyclist
but there seem to be a disproportionate amount of people who aren't. I'm going to have to disagree with you on your last point, too. Say a cyclist doing 10mph cuts me up at 40mph. In that split second, what do I do with my ton and a half of metal? Veer left, possibly mounting a kerb and hitting pedestrians, veer right into passing or oncoming traffic, or slam on the anchors and pray that I and the traffic behind me stops in time before making Oblivious Wanker Pâté (and/or a 2-6 car pileup)?
I'd call that a serious threat.

Meaningless conjecture, eh? Tell that to the old boy I watched get mown down by a cyclist as he jumped the lights at a pedestrian crossing last year. The cyclist who ranted at the collapsed old guy then tried to ride away (until myself and others physically prevented him).
Poor old sod ended up with a broken pelvis.
