I think actually it would be of immense economic benefit seeing as that the amount of money spent on the average wedding is in the tens of thousands.
Then when they get divorced they have to pay again! It's a great money making scheme for caterers, lawyers and florists!
Let's end the economic crisis by allowing any fucker to marry anything!

not convinced by the "spend our way out of recession" theory,
but still, it can hardly be any worse for the economy than Christmas.
