I think a lot of people see the word 'rap' and have certain preconceptions, because the stuff that gets seen in the mainstream is often the crap. The hip hop/rap genres are really diverse these days. They have Jewish intellectual rappers (Watsky, Paul Barman), Nerd rappers (MC Frontalot), Avant Garde rappers (Bus Driver), and of course our very own Dan Bull.

Problem with commercial hip-hop is that all the big names turned into sex and the city type women, blathering on about their jewellery, shoes and getting manicures and stuff.
There is still good hip-hop out there

Aesop Rock is a winner. Also Mr Lif, Gift of gab, Blackalicious, anything from Hieroglyphics...From the UK I'm loving Dr Syntax, Stig of the Dump, Foreign Beggars....Oh, and don't go and listen to the new Public Enemy album. Oh, how the mighty have fallen.
