... as far as I know, it was originally meant to be serious (as Enzyme says, "to counter the supposed liberal bias in Wikipedia") -- but I think it's since been largely taken over by parodists, and the administrators are too dense to realise that everyone's making fun of them.

But I think that they now vet contributors quite strictly, just in case some sanity creeps in.
