I wouldn't say her reaction was chilling! She was very calm about it. I thought she was going to throw a fit or something.

That's what's chilling really.
Calmly denying that she knocked someone down, either meaning she didn't notice, or she's trying to pretend it didn't happen. Both of which are quite scary.
