isn't there some argument
for trials such as this to not be conducted by a jury of laymen for reasons very much like this.
A case solely about patents and IP could be heard by a jury of patent attorneys etc. The cost to be funded by the court until judgement at which point it would likely be a small drop in the ocean compared to the total legal bill at that point for most companies.

This. I was on jury duty regarding a complex fraud case. Suddenly everyone was a legal expert.
