Samsung less so

This is a normal post I like this comment from Tony:
"All I know is that Apple products work. We got our first Apple 13 years ago to do Computer Graphics and Art. Only an Apple did what we needed. PC's, though cheaper, were good at typing and children's games. The other reason was reliability. You plugged it in and it worked. PC's can do many things now but for graphics, photos, art and printing especially newspapers you have to have an Apple."

I know what he means, i had to buy 5 pc's until i got lucky and got one that actually worked when i plugged it in. What an idiot.

I use macs, it's the only thing i can use for making music, that's the only reason i use them, i've never taken any of them to a coffee shop.

This is a normal post I love these kinds of idiotic comments
I'm not sure about reliability rates either. I have friends with macs who have complained about various issues, failures (not as easy to get into and repair or replace either). I do all my web and graphics work on PC's and find no issues either. I just don't get why they think macs are better. I put them at a level pegging with PC's just more expensive. It's an opinion btw. I have used macs at school, but that was over 16 years ago now, well before the modern mac rounded corners boom...

I can also plug it in and it works.

EDIT: by idiotic comments I meant Tonys, not yours Bready. *hugs*

I just couldn't be bothered arsing around trying to increase the mega-ramage and jpegs on my pc to bring it up to speed so that i could look at gifs. I opted instead to get a mac, i can now run two gifs at once and it has loads of gigi-bits and other cool stuff.

I have far less hassle with Macs. In fact, I am going out to buy another one today. £2000 of goodness.

This is a normal post I can't imagine this happening with other consumer electronics
M'lord the defendants have clearly stolen my clients design for a laptop as theirs also has a folding screen that closes over a keyboard.

Back in the early 2000s all phones looked the same, all flatscreen tv's are large rectangles on stands. It really doesn't make sense to me that apple can have exclusive rights to a rectangular touch screen device.

Untill the iPhone came out... That's just te truth

This is a normal post Seriously?
Nokia were showing full touch screen prototypes way before the iPhone.

I had a Sony P800 which was a touch screen and very similar (once the optional folding keypad was removed).

If you want to make a touch screen phone and use the frontal area economically while making it easy to hold in your hand and keep in your pocket, there are not many options. They didn't come up with a radical solution - it was just the obvious one that everyone else had already figured out.

This is a normal post Oh well. It was nice while it lasted.
Apple can kiss my arse if they think I'm buying another of their products though. I cannot forgive them for the absolute dog's breakfast they made of my 1st gen iPod Touch. They took a device that "just worked" fresh from the box and through several "updates" turned it into a slow, buggy piece of crap.

This is a normal post Anyone here who has been on a jury...
...will be asking themselves how the cunting fuck did they deliberate on a reported 700 questions in 22 hours.

We had four questions and it took us over 15 hours.

You could cynically suspect that they were so bored with the whole thing, they decided to just wrap it up ASAP and favour the American company.

Also, it only takes one persuasive person on a jury to swing people to a way of thinking once they are in that room.

I imagine this will be appealed pretty hard.

This is a normal post isn't there some argument
for trials such as this to not be conducted by a jury of laymen for reasons very much like this.

A case solely about patents and IP could be heard by a jury of patent attorneys etc. The cost to be funded by the court until judgement at which point it would likely be a small drop in the ocean compared to the total legal bill at that point for most companies.

personally I don't see the iPhone as being all that innovative all them pocket sized electronics had been heading on a path of convergence for years. Between the PSP (zomg has a rectangular screen and a circular button with a square on it, looks like a stolen apple design to me), NGague, various palm PDAs, MP3 players, cellphones, it was about damn time someone put all that stuff in one device, seriously I'm lazy and only want one thing in my pocket. tbh I haven't really even kept up with pocket sized electronics in years, so maybe I'll go buy a smartphone or something sometime soon.

the rounded rectangle is just such a basic geometric shape I might as well try to trademark a common word and sue everyone that uses it. I was thinking of the word the™ now whenever you say the™ send me .01 currency units!

and most of the other patents seem to be small software features that in no way should be patentable. can apple demand people remove sliding glass doors as they slide and grant access to a building? and my first cell phone had a lock that required you to press 1 2 3, more or less the exact same gesture (yea okay slide to unlock wasn't in this trial but I'm bitter about it).

Bounce back, okay kinda a nice feature but can easily work around it, then again how much is that really worth?

touch to zoom to text, it just seems logical that if I'm looking at a large web page on a small screen that I would want to zoom, if we look at the adobe pdf reader I have select, zoom, and the hand tool. with a touch screen the hand tool can just be a gesture, so might as well put zoom on the one touch. although if that is specifically designed to look at the text then that should be easy to dodge.

maybe it is all just that simple because it is 2012 and not 2007 and apple didn't "invent" it all yet

that said multi touch does seem to be a newish thing and I'd say is worth protecting.

maybe something else, no one seems to have a nice and easy chart saying what won/lost

This is a normal post sweet
image that shows most of the stuff involved

si.wsj.net/public/resources/images/OB-UH759_APPLEV_G_20120825011630.jpg

design: yea they did a pretty exact copy, probably shouldn't be able to patent the rounded rectangle but should be able to come up with a slightly different design.

rounded square icons on the interface: errm isn't that more or less the same with every graphical OS out there now?

This is a normal post I thought Samsung's infringement claims were dismissed?
That image does not show a fair split of patents - it seems Apple have patented the 'it does X when I poke it like Y' and Samsung have patented the important stuff - managing battery, prioritising data, multi-tasking etc.

It's a white box with curved corners with buttons that light up when you press them.
