A man wrote a letter to the Calgary Herald.
Apparently, someone spoke to him in a park. If only he'd had a gun, this terrifying situation could have been sorted out much more satisfactorily.

"'What concerned me is two young men just approached us and stopped us, stopping us by being in our path, and [began] talking to us without even being welcome to talk to us. They just took it upon themselves to yell at us.'

That might be part of the hoax; but, all else being equal, meh.

... this guy seems to be a recurring crank. Apparently the same guy wrote this one, for instance.
So the letter is probably a real letter, however the guy who wrote it may or may not be long-game trolling. I'm filing him under Poe's law.
