I've played that game for a while now
It's a good laugh, but every bloody time about 10 minutes in, a MA-HOOSIVE armed-to-the-teeth ship comes along and promptly hands me my arse on a paper plate :(

I run away from them.
My approach is smallish ships with the best bits I can get. Harder to hit and better for running away in.
