Everyone loves Nirvana, right?

I thought they were overrated
They did a few good songs, but not quite good enough to award him the messiah like status that he has.

I disagree with everything you have to say
... but will fight to the death for your right to say it.

They weren't bad, but only really succeeded
because of the Svengali that is David Geffen. When it was clear that they had exhausted their limited talent, Geffen had Cobain murdered in a staged suicide. You think it's a coincidence he joined the 27 club? Marketing. Geffen knew that he would retain his marketability dead rather than sink into a junkie's decline. Geffen also took issue with Cobain's objections to the former's bad boy guerrilla marketing of the band ( www.stereogum.com/1873245/angry-letter-from-kurt-cobain-to-david-geffen-going-up-for-auction/news/ ). Geffen also despised Cobain for his pro Palestinian subliminal messages on In Utero but the final straw came when Cobain sardonically dedicated The Man Who Sold The World to him on the MTV Unplugged session (the dedication was skilfully edited out of the recording).
