This kind of thing is fairly common out in the orient.
In Taiwan they have a proper festival where brave/mental men (it's always men of course) kit themselves out in thick jumpers and motorbike helmets and stand in front of fireworks. None of this pansying about indoors, either.
It's considered lucky to be hit by one of the rockets.
