Surely to fuck anybody with a modicum of sense wouldn't rely solely on a fucking smartphone app in order to gain access to and start their vehicle?! Surely to fuck these cars ship with a standalone keyless ignition system that the bloody halfbrains in this article decided they don't need to carry because nothing could ever, ever go wrong with their mobile device? We really are going backwards as a species.
*I've been directly exposed to three Tesla owners that I'm aware of. All of them have been insufferable twunts of the highest order. One of them used to have an electric Hyundai Kona. He was a perfectly affable bloke. Then he got a Tesla and overnight turned into an aloof, haughty twat. He also owns a Range Rover SVR, so his purchase clearly wasn't based on environmental concerns, either. Dickhole.

Yeah, that would be a deal breaker for any vehicle
I test drove a Tesla a few months back, though, and the key they gave me was a credit card type thing, like a hotel keycard. Maybe it was just activating the software by RFID?
Also, I noticed that the doors were fully electric - a switch to open, not a mechanical handle. Let's hope that still works when the car is sinking into a canal.
My electric Kona (leased after a lot of research) has a real key to unlock the real lock on the door - but you only need that if your battery is completely dead, and even then it gets you access to the backup battery.
On the other hand, the basic Model 3 out-accelerated every other vehicle I've ever experienced apart from planes. It was kind of scary how fast it went from a standstill to 70 on the motorway slip road.

My boss recently picked up an Audi RS e-Tron GT
It's absolutely fucking terrifying. It's not just the acceleration, but the inertia. The thing gets to 124mph in a ballhair over 10 seconds and weighs 2.5 tonnes(!). It wouldn't surprise me if we see a special license designation for these types of vehicles in the near future considering how relatively ubiquitous they'll become.

I drive my Kona around in Eco mode because the Sports mode is too mental for my poor little heart.
I'm old now.
Time was I used to drive my Austin Mini at about 60 on winding single track country roads, for the LOLs. Now that sort of thing makes me shit myself.

I suspect there's a bit of the Diet Coke effect going on.
"I own an extremely environmentally unfriendly vehicle so owning a second slightly greener vehicle will offset any damage I'm doing." Because clearly, a large, fume belching 4WD vehicle is an absolute necessity for all these people because there's a pothole at the end of the road.
