This is a normal post very interesting that, as the wiki
states, its not really well known in the west. Didn't America also cut off their oil exports to Japan, which sort of also forced Japan's hand to start the Pacific assault - if they were going to strike at oil rich islands in the pacific, they would need to make a decisive first strike against the US Navy.
