People on Reddit trying to identify a band/song found on an old cassette tape from Germany in the mid 80's.

They're not getting anywhere, because nobody seems willing to accept that it's just some hobby garage band some kids started up in the 80's after listening to too much Sisters of Mercy and just as suddenly faded into obscurity when they all got shitty full time jobs and began spawning offspring.
It sounds so familiar because it is. The sound is influenced by just about every goth band of the era. Some people just want to believe there's some great mystery at work, because it's much more romantic than the boring reality of the situation.

I was in a band that recorded about 15 songs and never did anything with them, might do the same and get Internet famous in 40 years time

On the contrary it looks as though they're just trying to track down any basic info like the bands' name or country of origin. The nerve...
As an expert on "every goth band of the era" perhaps you could just tell them who it was so there won't be anymore "great mystery."
