This demonstration of superhydrophobic metal uses materials created in the lab of Chunlei Guo, professor of optics at the U of Rochester. The material is made by processing metal with high intensity lasers, creating micro and nano structures that render the surface highly water repellent.

If they can laser etch dogs to prevent mud and fox shit sticking to their fur, then Rochester is onto a sure-fire winner.
Edit: And helmet visors for motorcyclists.
