Electric Charging not much better I would have thought
With my Classic Car boring hat on I think part of what they are is the engine and what they had when made. Does not apply to all and old Citroen cars though iconic it was not about the engine. I think the bug should have the air cooled chugger at the back.

When I am installed as Lord Protector
all engines that run on dinosaur juice will be banned, seized and either put in a museum or recycled.
Anyone found to still own an illegal fossil fuel engine will themselves be recycled.
Individual car ownership will be taxed out of existence. £100k per month seems like a reasonable rate of road tax to me.
