2 good friends, whose opinions I would otherwise respect, both recommended arcade fire. I just don't get it though, I don't find their music fun or interesting. Am I all alone?

Heard Neon Bible for the first time last year and thought it was unbelievably good. To me they sound how the Pixies would sound if they'd spent their formative years listening to Rufus Wainwright. If that makes any sense.
