Did they ever express contrition at platforming Boris back in the day? Surely such a self-deprecating bumbling wheeze must be a nice chap, ay viewers?

and pointed out how fatuous it was.

of course, these shows have no effect as would-be leaders have little interest in public image and exposure, as boris's 4 appearances and hosting slot attest.
I recall how Clinton received no boost from appearing on the arsenio hall show, too, not endearing himself as a likeable sax playing dude to a national audience. it would be fatuous to suggest otherwise

I think it was his first appearance when Hislop skewered him on Darius Guppy. Subsequent appearances didn’t go much better. But, yes, he bumbled through and got laughs. I hardly think they can be blamed for his subsequent elevation though. That’s a bit mental tbh.

expressing regret at repeatedly platforming the cunt is not saying Hignify is solely responsible for him being PM, and wouldn't have killed them. Boris's trick has always been the affable bumbling self-mocking persona masks some pretty nasty politics

That they should have expressed regret that subsequently to appearing on the show he turned out not to be the best PM we’ve ever had?
I used to love HIGNFY, I don’t like it or watch it anymore, but I just cannot understand your anger at them. I think it’s misdirected, at best. Hislop has always been hypercritical of Johnson. For years. Since long before his appearance on the show. And he was on the show.
