The highways department of Luton decided that a pavement, made almost entirely of cracked, unstable paving slabs, would make an ideal cycle path.I make no apologies for cycling in the road, in situations like that.

Which is, I imagine...... why the OP took the trouble to specify "a perfectly good cycle path", rather than "a shit cycle path".

To be fair it's Luton, they're just assuming if you own a bike it'd get nicked before you even try it on the cycle path.(
